(Self) Clarifying Active Inference

In active inference, action is treated as an integral part of the inferential process. Actions are selected not only based on prior expectations about their outcomes but also as a way to resolve uncertainty and minimize prediction errors. This means that both perception and action are seen as processes driven by Bayesian inference, where the system actively changes its state to conform to its predictions or to sample the environment in a way that reduces uncertainty.
